Tel Aviv University researchers have uncovered a unique 11th-century BC sacred compound at the site of Tel Beth-Shemesh, an ancient village that resisted the aggressive expansion of neighboring Philistines.
A possible Israelite (?) temple has been discovered from the 11th century BC, the time of Samuel when the Philistines returned of the Ark to Beth-Shemesh, cf. 1 Samuel 1:6.
