Archaeologists excavating at an Iron-Age cemetery at Tepe Sagzabad in north-central Iran, uncovered 35 Assyrian cylinder seals. The seals were discovered in a series of graves, which also included metal ornaments, earthenware, as well as the remains of animals buried beside the humans. Scholars believe the cylinder seals belonged to officials in the kingdom of Assyria. This discovery will shed light on both the individuals, well as the burial practices of the ancient Assyrians. In the Bible, the Israelites had many interactions with the kingdom of Assyria (see below).
