In this presentation we explore the recent discoveries from an archaeological site in Israel called Khirbet el-Maqatir, possibly the site of Joshua's Ai and Jesus's Ephraim. The site had a military fortress that was destroyed during the Israelite conquest of Canaan, only to be rebuilt and destroyed again in the First Jewish Revolt against Rome. The military artifacts and architecture shed light on warfare practices in the ancient Near East.
This presentation is a part of an exhibit - Joseph, Judges, & Jesus: An Archaeological Journey through the Bible at the Museum of the Albemarle.
