A team of Egyptian and American archaeologists has discovered an intact tomb near Luxor, Egypt from the Middle Kingdom (ca. 2040 to 1674 BC). The tomb contained the burials of 11 people spanning multiple generations from the 12th and early 13th Dynasties. While many of the wooden coffins and linen wrappings were damaged due to ancient flooding, many of the tomb goods were well-preserved. The archaeological team found pottery, exquisite jewelry, and two beautiful copper mirrors. This discovery will allow scholars to better understand both the burial practices and the daily lives of people in Egypt at the time Joseph was vizier.
